The meeting of the Sister City Community Committee commenced at 4:35pm.

Acknowledgment and appreciation to Monique price

 

At this stage of the Meeting the Committee acknowledged Monique Price for her significant contribution to the Sister City Community Committee and expressed appreciation for her efforts with the Committee and in arranging and facilitating outstanding Sister City visits over many years. The Committee wished Monique well in her future endeavours.

Confirmation of Minutes

RP-1     CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES - 26 MAY 2017

 

Recommendation:

                        On the Motion of L Vennell and M McKinnon

That the Minutes of the proceedings of the Sister City Community Committee  Meeting held on 26 May 2017 and 22 June 2017 be confirmed as a true and accurate record.

RP-2     ACTION PLAN - SISTER CITY PARTNERSHIPS AND THE WAGGA WAGGA COMMUNITY

 

Recommendation:

                        On the Motion of L Vennell and M McKinnon

That the Committee:

a       create and discuss an action plan for the ideas presented at the last meeting of the Sister City Community Committee

b       form a subcommittee for the three identified action items and allocate members to each sub committee with a report to be presented back to the next meeting on progress following informal meetings of each sub committee

c       request members absent from this meeting to nominate for a subcommittee and contact allocated members participate

-     Could add photographs and details of previous visits to Sister Cities.

·           Links to language database

·           Advertise and promote to enhance tourism and visitors to Wagga Wagga

·           Promotional material such as badges, stubby holders, bags

·           Correspondence in the Daily Advertiser - Council news

·           Need to capitalise on the use of Sister City Logo

·           Install next to ‘Welcome to Wagga Wagga’ Entrance signs

·           Tours for Wagga people travelling to the Sister Cities

- Information for people travelling - how to get to our Sister Cities and what they can see and do once there.  Possibly organise group tours.

·           Ask local travel agency’s to promote the Sister Cities to customers.

·           People to people contact – The possibility of visitors meeting up with people their own age for engagement whilst in Wagga.

·           Engage with a commercial partner – Thirsty Crow (beer festival), Travel Agency

RP-3     OFFICIAL DELEGATION OF VISITORS FROM OUR SISTER CITIES - NORDLINGEN, GERMANY AND LEAVENWORTH, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

 

Recommendation:

                        On the Motion of J Tout and A Tanner

That the Committee:

a          review and accept the itinerary as tabled

b          delegate Committee Members to be the contact point for certain activities throughout the visit as below

c          request that all Committees Members review the Final Itinerary for the Official Sister Delegation Visit 2017 and advise Monique Price if they are able to provide assistance

d          request that Scott Gray review the budget and establish if there is capacity to increase the amount of hospitality that is provided to the delegation such as inclusion of breakfasts etc

e          request that Scott Gray include an article in Council News regarding the
