RP-2               INVITATION TO ATTEND THE HISTORISCHES STADTMAUERFEST 2019 - HISTORIC WALL FESTIVAL

Author:          Elizabeth Cox

Director:       Peter Thompson

Recommendation

That the Committee:

a       receive and note the report

b       seek expressions of interest from Committee members wishing to attend the  Historisches Stadtmauerfest 2019 - Historic Wall Festival

Report

In December 2017 Council received a request from the Wagga Wagga City Rugby Male Choir and Rugby Choir Concert Band to represent the city of Wagga Wagga at the Historisches Stadtmauerfest 2019 - Historic Wall Festival, scheduled to be held in Nördlingen, Germany on the 6-8 September 2019.

Council wrote to Nördlingen seeking an invitation to host an official delegation from Wagga Wagga at the Historisches Stadtmauerfest 2019. Correspondence from Nördlingen noted that it would be difficult to facilitate the request consisting of an official delegation as well as a large choir due to the size of the group and the amount of other visitors who will be attending the event. In the correspondence from Peter Schiele, it was indicated that an official delegation of ten members could be accommodated.

Since this time, the Wagga Wagga City Male Rugby Choir have advised that they are no longer looking to attend the Historisches Stadtmauerfest 2019 - Historic Wall Festival.

The purpose of this report is to seek expressions of interest from Committee members who are interesting in attending this event as part of the official delegation, at their own cost.

The current proposed official delegation consists of the following:

·    Mayor, Councillor Greg Conkey OAM

·    Mrs Jenny Conkey

·    Mr Peter Thompson, General Manager

·    Mrs Kylie Thompson

·    Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dallas Tout

·    Mrs Janine Tout

·    Miss Wagga Wagga

·    Miss Community Princess

It should be noted that only the Mayor and General Manager’s costs will be covered by Council (still to be determined by resolution).
