GENERAL BUSINESS

Working Group Members Around the Table

1.  Michael Whiteside tabled that the Department of Communities and Justice are meeting regularly with Dr Joe McGirrs office and the Local Area Command on Social Housing matters for coordinated responses.

2.  Kat van der Wijngaart provided a verbal notification that due to her leaving the area, and there being only one more meeting of the working group for 2020, she will be submitting a formal resignation from the Crime Prevention Working Group. The resignation will be for the end of 2020.

The working group tabled that they supported to continue with the remaining membership and not undertake a EOI process to refill this vacancy, given the limited number of meetings left through to the Local Government Elections in September 2021. Action: Once a formal resignation is received, this matter will be listed in the Officers’ Report for the next Crime Prevention Working Group Meeting held on 16 November 2020.

3.  Saba Nabi requested that Council invite Relationships Australia to present at a future Crime Prevention Working Group meeting on Family Law Pathways.

4.  Brad Wotton advised that the Community Centres in Tolland, Kooringal and Ashmont are back open for community access.

The Crime Prevention Working Group rose at 12:pm.
