The meeting of the Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee commenced at 9.01am.

a       North Wagga Flood Mitigation Options recommencement of original study

b       Final Report from the consultant Stantec, regarding the Wagga Wagga Flood Warning System

c       Implementation Status Paper from staff regarding the remaining projects and recommendations

d       Other grant opportunities

RP-3          LAND USE PLANNING, ZONING AND STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR FLOOD RELATED EVACUATION AND RECOVERY MANAGEMENT WITHIN THE WAGGA WAGGA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

 

Recommendation:

                        On the Motion of R Kendall and J Rolfe

That the Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee

a          receive and note the report

b          acknowledges that it does not have a role or duty of care to influence the planning of providing emergency facilities

c          recommends that Council writes to the NSW government requesting that it assigns a NSW government agency the role of identifying and implementing a long term strategy and arrangements for large scale community sheltering facilities and necessary services in the event of a natural disaster or large scale emergency in the Wagga region 

d          recommends that Council writes to the National Emergency Management Agency forwarding a copy of the correspondence issued in accordance with c) and requesting its support for the initiative
